Designing an Engaging School Map for Raffles American School

Project Overview
Client Background: Raffles American School, an international primary and secondary school in Iskandar, Malaysia.

Objective: To create a school map for new students, staff, and potential parents arriving on campus.

Problem: The Marketing Team at Raffles American School wanted to include a school map in their parent handout package for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Solution: Developed an informational and visually appealing map that reflects the school's vibrant environment. The map uses a vibrant color scheme to appeal to young children and includes personal details such as the Superintendent, Boarding Director, and school bus to make it more relatable and engaging.

Theme and Context: Set among lush rolling hills in the fast-growing city of Iskandar, Malaysia, Raffles American School spans a 19-hectare campus, accommodating students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. The school is designed as a holistic learning environment, seamlessly integrated into its beautiful natural setting. The campus features technology-integrated classrooms, science labs, visual and performing arts studios, a planetarium, and extensive athletic facilities.

Facilities: Raffles American School offers state-of-the-art facilities including:
Technology-integrated classrooms
Science labs
Visual art, dance, and performing arts studios
Performing arts center with an 800-seat auditorium and a black box theater
Extensive library catering to various reading levels
Planetarium for unique educational opportunities
Junior and senior boarding facilities
Athletic amenities including indoor gymnasiums, an Olympic-size swimming pool, training pool, tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, and a 400-meter running track
Conclusion: The school map not only served its functional purpose but also captured the vibrant and engaging atmosphere of Raffles American School. It was well-received by new students, staff, and parents, enhancing their orientation experience and reflecting the school's unique environment.
